Like I could actually afford Google stock but that's beside the point.

Another question if you got a free phone, and service(including wimax broadband) would you care about ad's popping up on your phone? No I don't work for Google. :)
Just because you can doesn't mean you should. This applies to making babies, hacking, and youtube videos.
The only way that I would buy a gPhone or any other hot shit device would be if it were open source. I want the ability to one day hack the phone (or, more likely, download others' hacks) in order to make it do an ass-ton of stuff that no corporate-produced phones will ever do.
(and one of those things would be to have a device that never displayed any kind of ads ever. we're talking adblock plugin even for the moblie browser that such a phone may have)
"I'll admit I had an OiNK account and frequented it quite often… What made OiNK a great place was that it was like the world's greatest record store… iTunes kind of feels like Sam Goody to me. I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want." - Trent Reznor
