    Re: Shmoocon

I switched avatars and haven't made a new badge yet - but i will (should) have my badge that Twinvega made a while back that has my nick on it.

I will also have some cds with me for sale or trade if you missed out on one at DC. (PM me if you are interested in cds - i also have a few shirts too, but will only bring those on special request)

Uh, speaking of good places to visit in D.C - anybody thought about the NSA museum?

      http://www.nsa.gov/museum/

As for avatar badges: I have a new avatar that I want to use but not until after my talk, it's my last slide and I want it to be a suprise.

Renderman, Grey Frequency and I toured the NSA Museum last year on the way to shmoo*, and I highly recommend it. There are some others who are talking about going on Saturday. Beakmyn is one. The main problem is the hours are rather limited on Saturday.

I'm getting in on late Thursday (10pmish) and am staying offsite at the Washington Mariott about a mile away. I'm thinking of probably just hitting that hotel bar unless there is anything cool nearby that evening.

PM me if you're also staying there and we'll meet up.

We just need more people to do it.
I should be in Saturday morning with runnerup, and we'll both be sporting our avatars.

I'll have to try to think of a way to put a push on people wearing avatar badges again. They're not difficult to make, and it's much easier to recognize people when they wear them... Perhaps I'll just pretend not to know anyone who doesn't have one on, even if they tell me their handle.

As for the avatar badge, I make my own. Just a plain picture of me and my name. As for the NSA Museum I plan to be there Thursday around 11am - 1pm.

I finally made a badge for myself

My trouble is that even if people do tell me their handle, I'll promptly forget their name my memory's so bad, so it's in their best interest to wear a badge.

Back to business though, GM1 you should make it an edict that all security people have avatar badges.. It would make them more user friendly ;)

Looks like Friday before registration is going to be the day to go. They open up at 9:00 so we plan to be in-line waiting for them to unlock the door. I'm sure they'll appreciate that. It'd be nice to have some coffee, eggs and bacon beforehand is there a diner nearby?

I printed my handle on a spare Omron Gen 1 Class 1B 96 bit RFID label I had. It's not programmed so if anybody feels like programming it you're more then welcome to find me.

IIRC, there's a ton of restaurants about a block or two away and last time i was at shmoo (2 yrs ago) there was a um..cough..starbucks in the hotel.

Wireless guys should be able to figure out the cipher if you are moved to. A little old school and a little new school always a good mix.

Actually you could just use your Defcon 15 badge and just tape your avatar on to the front of it.
