    Starting 2600 meetings

I want to start a 2600 meeting in my county but, I am afraid that no one would show up. I want to meet the county's other users, who like me enjoy computer security and wardriving. What would be a good way to start a 2600 meeting in my local town?

Move to Irvine, pretend you started the meetings, be a self proclaimed god to the blue one....never be seen again.
    Where's the dedication?

      -post an ad in 2600
-print flyers and staple to school (college) boards, cyber cafes, local star-$'s employee forehead
-accept that no one will show so you're happy when a couple people do

Are you sure there are none in your area? Like a 20 minute drive or so?

What if there is supposed to be a 2600 group in the area, but no one ever shows up at the meeting place? I wonder if there is a way to contact the local members (maybe send an email to 2600 and ask them to forward it on to someone local?) and revive the meetings..

Be glad if you're so lucky to live in an area without a meeting, rather than an area with a meeting run by tools. I think next year, we need a talk on "How to take over your local 2600 meeting".

I have heard that tends to be a problem. From what I understand, this local group was not active at all. I missed the speech this year on starting a local group.. anyone have the notes from it? I was far too hung over that day.. :(

                Notes

I am supposed to get the Audio CD's in the mail any day now. I'll post a link to the MP3 when I get it.

Also I was thinking about typing up the basic premise of the talk and submitting it to 2600 Magazine. Does this sound like a good idea to anyone?

I want to hear it, because if I am going to start a meeting I want to make sure I do things right. HighWizard, the answer is no, in 20 mins of my town is nothing. To see how meetings work I plan on attending the 2600-Sacramento meeting, even though it doesn't show up in the magazine's index.

There are some good books and manuals out on starting a Coup. Just take what you learn from reading them and apply the knowledge.

That would be a parole violation.
