This is a call for content!
This year we will be producing a conference DVD instead of a CD! We don't know if it will be dual layer or not, depending on costs.
So what does this mean? It means we need content to fill it with! Start planning on what you want to add, and talk about it here. Then we'll open an upload area where you can send it all.
Deadline will be around Mid June, it will go out to production around July 1st I'm guessing.
Let the planning begin!

Hmmmm....
How about:
- BackTrack 2.0 CD iso?
- Phrack Archives?
- Hacker Manifesto?

Backtrack 2 is older use BT3. The Phrack Archives is a good source of information even though some of its old, it still applies to modern developments. Maybe getting the real copy of Offensive Security guide that just be release would be something of interest

What about a lot of the "DC Filler" videos? Although I could see some potential copyright problems, it would be fun to have a lot of that on a DVD.
Backtrack 2 is older use BT3. BT2 is solid, while BT3 is still beta, and still badly broken in some significant areas. Hopefully, BT3 Final will be released by DC16, but timing issues involving lead time for DVD development, pressing, etc., could impact whether or not BT3 might make the cut. (Assuming that DT and crew even want it on there.)

Videos/Audio of the speeches given would be fine enough for me along with the stuff listed in the thread.

Thats true about bt3 should of thought of that before posting. Even if they did finish it in time before dc16 it still may have problems. But for other content on the dvd, im looking around for some videos because I would like to see more demos. of certain areas I like in and others probably do. I know astalavista has some videos but im not sure if id be able to release them without getting in trouble maybe I could talk to someone.

If I can find a teaser set, I would be willing to put another one on there again!

Excellent, excellent..
I'm thinking once pics.defcon.org is back on-line we can have everyone upload content to a category DC 16 DVD and then everyone can vote on it, comment, etc. Not sure if enough people will participate, but I like the idea.

I'm such a slacker. This weekend, I'll be reviewing the latest version, again, for readiness.
(There are not enough hours in the day to do everything I want to do.)

I think a Defcon nostalgia section would be cool -- it could include such things as PDF versions of previous conference booklets, pictures of previous badges, information on who won the various competitions, etc.

Job applications PDF files for IT positions in .gov. Include SF-171 and federal hiring guidelines. maybe the feds will help offset the cost of the DVDs.

Raffy and I are going to officially release DAVIX - The Data Analysis & Visualization Live Linux CD - at Blackhat/DEFCON.
Why not make the DVD bootable with DAVIX and allow every one to test their data visualization skills during the conference?
Additionally, we are planning to organize a 2 hour fairly informal workshop to give interested attendees a hands-on introduction to DAVIX.

I have some space at DEF CON that you could do your class in if you would like.

What about adding a secret menu on the DVD with some defcon and/or blackhat deleted scenes ;)
I don't know about this year.. but one could run driftnet on a SPANed port on the network and include all the pictures captured on next years! (pending removal of donkey pr0n, etc) ;-)

If you would be interested, dc949 is producing a few "training" videos for oCTF this year and maybe a reel with good parts from all of them might be good to go on the DVD?

:surprised Woow that's awesome. We are happy to accept your offer for the space for our workshop. How do we proceed with further coordination?

* DC15's video content
* Donated e-books from the authors/publishers
* Old artwork and pictures from Def Cons past
* Favorite recipes for potato salad
* In astcell's vein of suggestion; ventilation blueprints, security's radio frequencies, surveilance camera layout

With the con nearing, we will have to for real start collecting stuff if we are going to build a DVD instead of a CD this year.
If you have stuff to contribute, please try uploading it to the pics.defcon.org server, and we can turn that into a gathering place for content.

Well not enough interest this year for the DVD..
We should start sooner next year if we want to try it!

how about a photo archive of all past badges (and types, especially the UBER black ones!). Maybe a photo archive of the defCon tee's throughout the years too?
