Neural Interfacing

I've recently become inspired to research Neural Interfacing, but I'm having a hard time finding any valuable or insightful information. I'm currently a lowly undergrad studying Info. Systems, but have always had an interest in transhumanism, so I've been looking to see if theres a potential career in the subject. So far the most I have found is a company that seems to be a leader in commercializing cybernetic implants; the url is http://www.cyberkineticsinc.com/content/index.jsp.

Does anyone know if there is any potential for a real career to be made in the field? Much research actually being applied? Any information, including else regarding the field would be appreciated.

There is a guy out there that has done neural interfacing with his hand. He has implanted chips in his hand that control a robotic hand. I've seen it on the science channel as well as the news.

I don't know about jobs available in neural interfacing but I have seen these sites/videos recently. I am really interested in this topic as well.

I would love to see a diy tutorial on building the non-invasive brain readers but I think it will be a while before I can get my hopes up.

That's what I've expected at the "Hack your Brain" talks at the past few Defcons, but I was sadly disappointed
