You can keep saying what you please on the forums about me, although I was only here trying to make friends with same interests as I. Further more, I have not displayed any signs of immaturity on the forums, other then grammar mistakes if you want to consider that immature. So before you go judging ones character and his actions give it some time. I also did not ask for you opinion on the other handle I only asked would that be better suited.
Better suited? Right now "Cheese with the Whine" would be best in my opinion. You asked about nicks, and what others' opinions are about them. You were told that the opinions and impression were and why. Apparently not liking those responses, you're now whining.

That's my judgment about your character.

The ice is now really thin, and is showing cracks. I'm about this far [thumb and forefinger very close] from closing the thread, just to put you out of my misery, and from the looks of things, others feel similarly.

If you want to change your nick, just shut up, pick a new name, put in the request.

Hey, can I change my name to his old name if he changes it? Because I really wanna be ub3rl33t.
A third party security audit is the IT equivalent of a colonoscopy. It's long, intrusive, very uncomfortable, and when it's done, you'll have seen things you really didn't want to see, and you'll never forget that you've had one.

Re: Do nicks or handles matter?

I dropped into this thread to add my 2 cents about building a personae around a nick, how I really enjoyed the story "True Names" by Vernor Vinge's visionary story telling, how critical it is to protect your identity until you decide to make it public, etc.

Instead I find an SVoS (Swirling Vortex of Shit) that started with such promise. Well, at least the original question "Do nicks or handles matter?" had a lot going for it.

I guess we've figured out that they do matter. Since this thread started as the question, albeit an unrequired question, and has since turned into insults, defenses, retorts, failure in english, and finally anger. So, I guess someone's name does matter, considering this whole dilemma has lasted for four pages.

I think it's important for the nicks to be pronounceable in real life. Three syllabels max, has to be easy to say, can't offend most people, etc. Wouldn't you find it awkward to have to refer to someone as "The Leet One" every time you talked about him?

Hey DT, why did you drop into this thread?

You just made my tailing of this thread entirely worth it, several times over. It's times like this that I miss the older, more sensitive and mature responses from skrooyoo.
if it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud; and I'm gonna go there free.

Though I have no room to talk with my bent sense of humor and dyslexic AADD brand of English as well as most times having way way too much caffeine in my system; I have but one statement to make about this thread:

DIE THREAD DIE, DIE PAINFULLY PLEASE!!!!!!!

As far as nicks go I've always been partial to smucko :-), having been one at times myself.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. This applies to making babies, hacking, and youtube videos.

I'm at four syllables assuming you can pronouce my nick in the first place. Call me what you want, just keep the free beers coming. And don't have your robot shoot me this year.

The immaturity you've displayed in this thread is stunning. If I were you, I'd go off and think about whether I wanted to be taken seriously or not. Improving your grammar would be a start. You might also consider whether what you're going to say has any greater weight than the standard silliness that usually prevails when a group of adolescents first encounter alcohol.
That seems needlessly harsh. He's been relatively rational in this thread, and has brought up some good points.

Anyway, yeah. Everyone seems a little too wound up over this. It was an interesting question, at least.
