Def Con Attendee

Ok,
I am a first-timer, my question is stupid yet simple. I want to go to Def Con but when i can to make reservations, they lady tol dme i need to register with DefCon people to do so. I am lost and do not know what to do, guys i really need help(mentally). Anyone help me out? :D

you can regester for the hotel at any time (i.e. reserve a room) you "regester" for defcon at the door on thursday or friday....
