  • So What Ya Got On Speed Dial; Opera 9

So what are your nine most important security websites that you would keep on speed dial.

    xor

Another question I have is that I own a copy of IDA Pro Advanced 4.9 SP1 and is it worth the $445 to upgrade to 5.1 Advanced? Don't know whether I should spend my money on the upgrade or go for an HP tx2000z for 899.00 and need help deciding. Or would I be better off getting myself a license for Canvas.
Just because you can doesn't mean you should. This applies to making babies, hacking, and youtube videos.

Just a bit of clarity on your question please...

Where I go for certain code (hacking, tracking, domestic, imported, commercial, free)?

Where I go for tools other than code?

    Where I go to hobnob?

Where I go for general help when I'm over my head and behind on something critical?

Where I go for general knowledge and reference?

Where I go for sample hostile malware?

Where I go when no parachute will open up no matter what I pull on?

    Where I go......

Is it possible to refine the question so some don't think your asking for their vocation, phone number, and where they live?

Have you contacted product support for written changes between the 4.9 and 5.1? At that point you should have a pretty good idea if the older disassembler / debugger will meet your current and future needs.

With reference to IDA, no but I have been to their website and looked over the release notes. The integrated debugger looks like the biggest feature which is nice and may be worth the upgrade. I also like their upgrade policy which I think is really decent. Even though I'm outside of their maintenance subscription that fact that I hold a valid license and can still get the latest product plus another year of support and updates without having to purchase a new license is really cool.

Just FYI for people, but as I was lurking around I found a soon to be released book by Chris Eagle a CTF regular at Defcon on IDA Pro called The IDA Book to be release in July. http://www.amazon.com/dp/1593271786/...53990_pe_ar_t1.

I don't know Chris, nor can I speak to him as a author but all documentation put forth on IDA Pro has been worth it for me to purchase. I'm sure others who know him will speak up for him.

I have Dan Kaminsky's book Reverse Engineering Code with IDA which is good http://www.amazon.com/Reverse-Engine...d_bxgy_b_img_b.

By the way Pres, is your book on Bluetooth Security out yet? Been waiting for that one for awhile now.

If you're speaking to me...there is an admittedly small section in Penetration Tester's Open Source Toolkit (Vol 2) on Bluetooth security, but there are no current plans for anything beyond that. They've got me working on some other stuff at the time being.

A stage show where singers with big loud voices get dressed up in weird costumes and sing in funny languages. If you want to see one, then you need to get dressed up in very formal clothes, over pay for tickets and drink everything with your pinkie finger entended and slightly curved.
