LAX in particular. I hate LAX.

A couple weekends ago was my second time out of LAX. That place is ultra freaky. Get to go through there again in a week or so.

I have found that being prepared in Heathrow can get you through a checkpoint quickly.

I definitely agree on the Heathrow thing! I flew into Heathrow, then to Munich, and then back again. Getting back into Heathrow took forever in Customs but that was because our plane landed at the same time a plane from Moscow did. (My mom and I got hit on by all these old Russian guys, it was classic). Getting into Munich was no big deal.

until you pointed this out, i had not realized that we bounce through there on the way to ShakaCon and back. for some reason i thought we were going through SFO.

ah well, at least we're not going through security there. we'll be inside the flight areas the whole time, thank jeebus.

until you pointed this out, i had not realized that we bounce through there on the way to ShakaCon and back. for some reason i thought we were going through SFO.

I must say I'm happy that the internal areas are not like Dubai. I think I went through five security checkpoints, one right before the waiting area for the flight I was on. Being in Dubai with a sunburn and a fever while doing everything possible to leave without being shot SUCKS.

So, how often do you have to hold your tongue when you see the TSA doing something wrong? By wrong I mean less than effective searches, crappy situational awareness and the like.

I have the feeling not many people do report it. We're all in a hurry to get somewhere and god knows what will happen to us if we do. I was pretty surprised when the x-ray screener at LAX just smiled at me when my bag went through the x-ray in front of him and he never looked at his screen.

TSA wrecked part of one of my turntables last year. I DLed the form to report damages. It was way too long. (wow this whole thing sounds like the general BS that goes on everywhere...)

While I really enjoy travel, and have spent most of my adult live globetrotting, I'm really happy that my new job doesn't require me to get on a plane/helicopter/ship unless it is part of my vacation.

I did get a nice email from American Airlines telling me that since I have a frequent flier status I don't have to pay their idiotic fee for any baggage I check.

I've been out there several times, generally involving me going to some big grey thing in the water to fix expensive equipment.
