I am still trying to figure out where to fly out of and hoping the airlines don't go too buck wild with their prices in the next week. Also doing the retarded balance the expense vs saving $ for the next con thing, too. I hate having to do that!

i usually do that too, now. for the Acela, you're really paying more for the luxurious accommodations than the speed. unless you're going south past D.C. or up north on Vermonter service, the Acela only buys you like half an hour or so.

Exactly--between Baltimore and NYC, the difference between the Acela Express and the regular train is ~20 minutes, and nearly half the price.

Trains are cool. I use to help design them so I really like them. Never been on the Acela before so I'm looking forward to it. As a Test Engineer I got to go into parts of PENN Station most people never get to or want to see. It's really creepy at night after hours at 2 - 3am in morning(that's the only time you can test as they don't allow it during "revenue hours"). I was told by Metro North personnel not to wander off by myself as I mite not come back.

I wish our culture allowed for more time to be off; like Europe that allows people time to get from place to place. I like the idea of holiday. Heck, if gas keeps going the way it is we all mite be having to take the train more.

but damn, yeah... those are some posh seats, etc. and real tables upon which to do work, etc.

(i'm presently on a 2-hour delay at DIA on the way home from ShakaCon and i have to say... i could handle this sort of shit all the time if i had the conditions i have now: a table, beer right by the gate, power outlet, and free whiffy.)

I am on the 1200 Acela out of DC's Union Station on the 17th.

I cheaped out and took the "normal" train.

I'll be riding Slamtrak up there so if anyone is leaving Philadelphia or south of on Acela the morning of the 18th look for the guy with the 17" Dell with stickers all over it and that will be me. Of course that could mean a lot of people also.

Then again I hope to have an HP tz2500x tablet by then instead of the Dell Weight scale 2 gal. milk cartons I now carry around with me. Of course being bulky and heavy can be an effective theft deterrent especially in New York City.

Some rooms at the PA Hotel just opened up but they are at $299.00/night rate. I had to old school it and call them to find this out so good luck.

PS Why do all tablet notebooks seem to suck in the reviews? I guess for the same reason they can't seem to make a good PDA phone, that is both a good PDA and a good phone. It vexes me so.

Hey the PA Hotel is sold out totally. I had to get a room at the New Yorker. I decided to stay the weekend rather than commute so I will see everyone at the con. Already have my Defcon rooms, now I just need to get a plane reservation. Gotta stop slacking so much as I'm missing out. Hopefully there is a Starbucks near by need my caffeine fix :-)

It looks like the good deal on rooms at the Penn is sold out. So I'm on the prowl for a room share. I'm planning on bringing some cool toys & well I'm older now, rooming with adults is always nice.
