  • Comcast redirections

So as I read this story and read this quote, I about died laughing... "If he wasn't such a prick, he could have avoided all of that," says EBK. "I wasn't even really thinking. Plus, I'm just so mad at Comcast. I'm tired of their shitty service.""

I would imagine these boys are in some trouble. At least they made an effort to contact Comcast to warn them. Although I have seen that entities seem to be hostile to unsolicited help.
If a chicken and a half, can lay an egg and a half, in a day and a half... how long would it take a monkey, with a wooden leg, to kick the seeds out of a dill pickle?

Don't they know that Comcast isn't messing with Bit Torrent anymore. Recent example:

I downloaded a questionable 7gb torrent from piratebay using Vuze 3.x(formally Azureas) on my Comcast business class connection. With 128 peers and 60% of them connected at any one time, through 2 packet inspecting firewalls, one a Sonicwall 1260, tweaked Vuze parameters I managed data rates as high as 600k/sec symmetrical. Tweaking parameters as I went along it took about 12 hours to obtain the 7gb packed torrent file. Also I had no interruptions and rates never dropped below 300k/sec symmetrical.

If they were messing with bit torrent I don't think I would have been able to do that.

Anyway, these guys broke criminal 101:

    1. Don't do illegal stuff and photograph yourself and then post it to the world.
    2. Don't do illegal stuff and then tell the world.
    3. Don't commit a crime that leaves a paper or other trail.
    4. If it's fame you want don't do it in an election year as it will never make it national.

It amazes me that people as clever and talented as these guys are that they forget criminal 101.

    Dad like comments on:

Though I definitely understand the thrill that accompanies such an act( it's very intoxicating, almost addicting) you need better impulse control and to think it through to the end. Unfortunately wisdom like that comes from experience and is not commonly found in young people. If they are smart they should get a lawyer and turn themselves in before SWAT shows up at their door guns drawn. The person who was caught before was most likely in violation of the terms of their parole. The law will be exceptionally hard on them(e.g. Paris Hilton). Even if criminal law goes easy on you, from a civil perspective you will be paying for this for the rest of your life e.g. O.J.

    Dad like comments off:

    Nonetheless it was impressive.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. This applies to making babies, hacking, and youtube videos.
