I think my favorite line is "There is no arrange by Penis"A third party security audit is the IT equivalent of a colonoscopy. It's long, intrusive, very uncomfortable, and when it's done, you'll have seen things you really didn't want to see, and you'll never forget that you've had one.Comment

Re: The Website Is Down
How many of us have been caught on the dreaded "Install Updates and Shutdown" while remoted?
WTF? Why would that be an option on a server?
Although, one time many years ago, I did disable the ethernet device on the server I was VNC'ed into. Ya only do that once.A third party security audit is the IT equivalent of a colonoscopy. Re: The Website Is Down
i don't get it... all i get is the black main page, then if you follow a link you get to what looks like a real site, then anything you click on takes you back to the black "the web site is down" main page again. are they doing something super retarded with scripted links that my browser is blocking? or is that the joke... some never ending loop of "the web site is down"?
sounds like others made a video play. beats me."I'll admit I had an OiNK account and frequented it quite often… What made OiNK a great place was that it was like the world's greatest record store… iTunes kind of feels like Sam Goody to me. I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."

Re: The Website Is Down
Our DSL line went down the other day and the FNG came over and asked if Internet Explorer was down.

Re: The Website Is Down
Ha! I just did that the other day.
Also, right click-close on VNC (or LogMeIn, or whatever you're using to remote in) is also not a good idea.

Re: The Website Is Down
anyone care to post the URL of the video itself? i don't feel like wading through whatever silly code they have going on with their pages to find it.

This hurts me. I take these calls. Every one of them. Every night. I've lost track of the number of times I've had techs call me from the machine room asking where to find a rack because the coordinates in our records were wrong. I'd love to walk you through it-- but-- my office is a thousand miles away from your data center.
"Did you get my email about not taking down the webserver?"
Strangely cathartic though. Brilliant." 'Yields falsehood when preceded by its quotation' yields falsehood when preceded by its quotation."
