    NewSub Forum Proposal

    So -
since a lot of us travel to cons, to do pen tests, etc for work, fun, etc... I wanted to propose a sub forum on here dedicated to airport travel. I am aware that there are whole websites dedicated to this all ready, but somehow i really doubt there is a hacker friendly one, specifically aimed towards our needs.

It would have: separate threads for each airport. Like a DIA one, just related to Denver international stuff, etc.

Maybe one on food and drink. One on comfort friendlyness, etc. Smoking lounges, etc.

    What do you think?

I added a poll. It won't decide the issue, but it could be used to help mods decide.

While I am not sure on airports exclusively, it would be useful to have some location data up on hacker friendly areas or best methods of transiting to/from/within a city. I'd hate to turn into the travel channel though.

I agree, I have a nice list of bookmarks that cover any worse case travel scenario, but a list of hacker friendly sites, or better yet, hacker owned businesses in various cities around the globe would be worthwhile, I'd be more inclined to spend money in a hacker owned hole in the wall bar over the hotel bar and have to listen to drunken aluminum siding dealers trying to pick up the cocktail waitress.

          Re: NewSub Forum Proposal

I don't travel a lot, but I agree that this is a good idea. I know I'm going to hear a few groans, but perhaps a Wiki would be a better format, though. It is difficult to reformat, edit, search, etc. in the forum format.

On the other hand, the forum is easy and already has users. Unless this resource had enough critical mass to keep it going (which, in all honesty, I don't believe will be the case), spinning off a separate site is destined for failure. An advantage of the forums is that us "New Posts" surfers will see the information added and be able to comment.

I love reading and sharing travel stories both positive and negative. Perhaps a FAQ would be in more in order or why not both.
