Ultra-Orwellian or just a good idea?

A third party security audit is the IT equivalent of a colonoscopy. It's long, intrusive, very uncomfortable, and when it's done, you'll have seen things you really didn't want to see, and you'll never forget that you've had one. -

You may be correct.
Although since I value my freedom to consume, I will avoid this stunt as I fear it would end after a few drive through windows. If a chicken and a half, can lay an egg and a half, in a day and a half... how long would it take a monkey, with a wooden leg, to kick the seeds out of a dill pickle?Comment

Firstly, at that hour, there are other warmer softer things you should be driving especially if your playing masked man. Secondly, aren't we off the surveillance topic? My rig has 5 cameras and 12 motion floods, but I live near a freaking city high school. I set all cameras to only get as little of my property and as much as the other guys to see what's coming. Now if you have good high res imaging it's not a problem. Just be sure the cameras are all set to image at least a part of your property so when it‘s replayed in court they don‘t think your a perv.
Thirdly, even if the cops were watching the crime in action, the dispatch time is well below my lock and load time where I live. In my city I do not call 911.. Their way busy with all the international terrorists at hand.Last edited by Greyhatter; September 30, 2008, 14:04.Comment

Chicago is more or less my FOB, publicly the Chicago Police love the cameras, but in private, they think they are a joke.
"Unless something has changed in the past 90 days, you still have 559 cameras feeding into a server designed for 100. The server alone costs a boatload of money; one estimate heard was a quarter million."
Mind you these observations are from 2007, but the budget being as fcuked as it is, its probably no different, and besides we've only had 392 murders in Chicago in 2008, up by at least 14 percent compared to last year.
Read the blue light camera comments, they are golden, and the blog on its own should scare anyone living in northern Illinois.

I only guessing here but I think cameras make us "feel" safer if we're lucky enough to live to tell of the crime. What scares me is that cops use cameras as a lazy way to enforce what they should already be enforcing in person. Another problem is that cameras won't shoot at the bad guys when a cop should have been there in the first place. Man I loved Robo Cop! Letz have cameras that shoot the bad dudes since the cops are too busy with terrorists.Chicago is more or less my FOB, publicly the Chicago Police love the cameras, but in private, they think they are a joke.
