Defcon 2009 rules: car size?

Hello,

I am trying to find a car which fits into 12" square, and I am having trouble finding one. I keep finding either smaller ones, 9-10 inches long, or larger ones, 13-14 inches long. The smaller ones do not have much free space availible, so it will be quite a challenge to fit both wall sensors, the gun, enemy-finding camera, and batteries for everything.

Would it be possible to relax the rules, so that the wheelbase is limited to 12 inches, not total car length?

Try looking at 1/18th scale RC cars, they should fit within 12" cube with enough free space for sensors.
