Never mind then. For some reason I missed that in the rules. I knew this was a bad idea to do this, one of the reasons I never post here is that the forums are even more confusing than the HOPE ones.

As for introductions, I am Sidepocket as should be obvious from my screen name. I am not the best "hacker" out there, I am always afraid of calling myself one because of that. However, I do believe I have the mindset and I am constantly learning new things every day.

My strongest work is in the Video Game Industry and I am still trying to progress in that field. People have also known me for my photography and my activist work. That recent Fake New York Times thing? Yea, that was me leading all the other distributors around.

That alone should show you the groups I have been apart of. I am also apart of Phone Losers of America, NYC 2600 and BinRev. I use to operate on Hak5, but that sort of dropped off the map for me. I am also friends with BSoD and other groups and cool people. I love meeting cool people that do not suck.

Anyhow, I hope to post more here on various topics, learn and try not to sound like an idiot. I am also putting together a talk for Defcon 18 that I hope gets accepted when I submit it in 2010.

      ...

      Fin.
This is like a high-latency, "Hi! I'm new!" post, and I moved it to /dev/random where there are no rules about people introducing themselves.

It could have been /dev/null-ed but, this will be your warning.

Community Talk is for "Commuinty Talk" such as tecnology, hacking, phreaking, defcon, contests, projects, items in the news, events, and similar content. It isn't for people to introduce themselves.

/dev/random has almost no limits (by comparison) to all other sections of the fourms. In /dev/random, the only items that are presently off-topic and against the rules include:
      spam
illegal content, requests to break the law, discussing intentions to break the law
      politics and religion

The rules of /dev/random are available here.

The rules that govern all other forums (unless otherwise stated) are here.

Thorn (one of the mods here) has pointed you to the rule violation that applied outside /dev/random.

Anyone can make any claim they want in a, "Hi! I'm new!" post, and people have tried Social Engineering before. The "Hi! I'm new!" and introduction post is really useless on these forums. The content of your posts, your actions on the forums, how you handle difficulty, and how your present yourself provide examples of who you are more than any claims.

If you want to provide more details about yourself, and your life and where you've been, where you are going, or even you mood, DT purchased "blog" software to allow people to create blogs on the forums. Check the NAV-bar for "Blog" or here for Defcon Forum Blogs.

Sidepocket... not to pick on you but if you've been a member since April 2007 you've had plenty of time to lurk before making your first posting a "Hi I'm new!". :~(

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. This applies to making babies, hacking, and youtube videos.

I do not lurk here because the whole website is highly disorganized. Hence why I never posted here until now. I will comment once and awhile then, hope this did not anger people too much.

Not to mention, I find these post helpful. Not everyone remembers who they are due to all their actions. Shit, there are STILL people who's names I cannot remember in other hacker communities even though they have done plenty of stuff I remember.

              Side,

I lurked for 6 months in here before I had the balls to post at Defcon. Not that I even read the rules at first, but in time I quickly realized that a post must not waste the time of others or at least contain a modicum of interesting stuff dealing with IT, CS, tech of importance/relevance and current events so as not to bore the average IQ.. If you've read (lurked) in here this long you know about dev/nul, and FH, for those who don't take the time or bother to play by the rules. It establishes a norm and it works well in my opinion. I've been mod for several other forums I will not name where they had no real established rules or officials, and the newbees posted tons of mindless, useless shit, and dribble, that the average visitor just RAN from.

Please sonsider this when you post here:

When you fart in here everyone knows it.

When you stink in here everyone knows it.

Where you stand in here everyone knows it.

When you post stupid shit everyone sees it.

When you bring nothing to the table everyone starves.

              Hope that helps.
