Its not that hard... I survived last year. This is something that would have been nice to go to, but if its not in the cards, oh well. Like mama bird pushing its chicks out of the nest, the nubs will either survive or wonder what the fuck they were doing when they came to Vegas.
"As Arthur C Clarke puts it, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic". Here is my corollary: "Any sufficiently technical expert is indistinguishable from a witch"."

OH FOR THE LOVE OF DEFCON! There is going to be a 101 on the lovely delicious things at Defcon. Why do you wish to you try my good humor regarding this? Please, Cot, close this.

Yes, but he was being sarcastic.
Since I did get a PM about this, and others have asked elsewhere, I want to point out that closure of this forum is only for the "Intro to Hacking Speed talks" and not the "Intro to Defcon" which became "DefCon 101: A Lurkers Guide to DefCon" and that is still live, and have organizers running it.
The closure is only to the forked project for speed talks on intro to hacking.

Time hasn't expired. I said I would give people a week. We have 3 more days to go.

It has been a week, and the event "Intro to Hacking at Defcon" has no Leaders/Organizers.
This thread has been relocated to "New Ideas."
If someone else wants to run this as an event, submit your plans to Russ for approval, authorization, and allocation of resources (like space on the contest/event floor.) Get this event approved with an ok from Russ for space, and a new subforum for it can be created in Defcon 17 Contests and Events.
Until then, this is not an official or unofficial event at Defcon.
Thanks.
Consider the [forum=466]DefCon 101: A Lurkers Guide to DefCon[/forum] as an introduction event. It isn't an intro to hacking, but it is an intro to Defcon.
