Anyone here ever make it up to Vancouver for CanSecWest? i'll be there in the coming week (flying right out from Chapel Hill when CarolinaCon ends) and am curious who else might be going.
I might want to mention that one thing that makes CanSecWest rather different from some other "suit and tie" style events is its small size. Trainings usually max at 10 people and the con itself usually isn't more than about 300 folk, i believe.
I'm conducting a lockpicking & physical security training there and it's a nice opportunity at a con like that to really take the time to teach people things that they don't have time to learn at other, larger, livelier cons. Ask prez and LosT and others who went to Norway with us this past month... it can be really nice to have a super small setting and truly get in-depth learning that you just don't have time for at other events. jackalope and i taught them picking in ways that they had wanted for a while... render and dragorn also were able to give plenty of great in-depth WiFi lessons to the crew (and stuff on the horizon involving their new association with Guy from Belgium on that trip will fucking rule, let me just say!)
i'll save a seat for you if you think your job will let you come, hehe.
on another note... i've asked a few folks and no one seems to know for sure... does anyone have solid info on pre-paid SIM cards in Canada? do they have normal laws or "anti-terrorist" laws? can i buy one like a normal human being or do i need 9 copies of my passport, DNA, and all that shit? any recommendations on what service to go with?
