Very cool! Would you mind saving one for me? I'll trade you for something :)

Agreed completely. I'm actually writing up the information right now and will post in a new thread shortly.

I can't believe I'm packing for DEFCON again already. Time flies!

Like I wouldn't hold one back for you. *chuckle* I just got word from e-teknet that they are in the 2-day turnaround queue, so I should have the PCB's in hand by Monday, and in the assembler that same day. They will literally be done just in time for me to dump some test code on 'em and fly to DC17.

      They have:
      • MCU is an Atmel 325P running at 5V/20Mhz
      • 2x CR2450 cells (600mAh) 3V to keep 'em running
      • Configurable Buck Booster to run at 3V or 5V (10Mhz or 20Mhz) for level matching
      • BUILT IN usb mini-b connector + FTDI for instant programming (and power) gratification
      • Arduino Compatible pin layout, and mostly Arduino compatible shield connector
      • 3x5 LED matrix for character display goodness
      • 6 pushbuttons for hacking ( up/down/left/right select/cancel )
      • four more LED's for further hacking on the side
      • One MORE led on a PWM channel .. um .. just cause

... plenty of hackable goodness ...

Ah, that's pretty sweet! Looking forward to what you come up with this year ;)

Re: It's on like Donkey Kong.

I apologize if this is in the wrong thread.

I need help connecting the Defcon schmartboard to the DC17 badge. Can I just wire the USB prop plug directly to the Freescale's TX, RX, GND pads, or do I have to use the schmartboard to connect to the badge? I have tried wiring the USB prop plug TX, RX, GND to the RX, TX, GND pads on the Freescale, but am unable to connect using Codewarrior. Maybe I am doing something wrong in Codewarrior. If anyone can produce a schematic and/or instructions for interfacing the Parallax USB prop plug or schmartboard to the Freescale mc56f8006vlc I will buy you a few beers at DC18.

          Thanks

The DC17 badge has a boot loader. You do not connect Codewarrior to the USB port. You need to connect to the USB port like a serial port. If you reset the badge you will see txt come over the USB port. There is another thread that talks a little about this.
The comm port is 19.2 8-n-1 and XON/XOFF

Thank Fly, that worked, I didn't have the Hyperterminal settings correct the first try and also didn't do a reset on the badge.
