Hadn't seen anyone post this yet... apparently SHA1 has been rather thoroughly pwned:

In an unrelated matter, the US Government has mandated that all federal agencies migrate away from SHA1 by 2010:

ok uhhhh....

all i got out of that was that's how the encryption is broken...I'm lost on it though

Edit: just did some google searches, namely AES (I work with that so to speak) and figured out what is going on with that now...
