that's gotta be the most bogus thing I've ever heard... not that your saying it, but that AOL would send emails and stuff like that out. They have the power (assuming someone in the corporate knows how) to take your site down without requesting your permission
hell, tripod killed my entire account for farting http://www.0nv.netif it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud; and I'm gonna go there free.

Also, they are just trying to scare you. Take the content offline, say that you were not aware and someone was using your name. Some bullshit like that, they probably wont even send a response.
Unless you want to try to take it to court, hah hah hah.
I would advise against doing that. Just take it offline, don't respond to e-mails or apologize.
They only have your e-mail address, right?

Ask me when we get to DC. Probably not a good idea to mention specifics here.
However, I do not recommend anyone misread the legal mumbo jumbo and offer Microsoft Windows tutorials via web download without their permission. Unless of course you have some free time :DApex

Anyway, you're basically screwed. Not for stating your opinion (something that, provided it doesn't cross over into slander or libel, is protected speech), but rather for posting 'access devices' - that is, a list of passwords in a publicly-accessible location.
The passwords are AOL's property. You're not supposed to have them. If you obtained them improperly, you're doubly-fucked. If you yourself posted them, you're uber-fucked.
Remove the offending items, and leave anything that can be considered opinon. Also, before you do this, ask for an exact URL to the offending information, as well as a copy of the offending items. Once you have that, sift through and figure out what is and is not protected speech - chances are AOL wants to shut you down completely, but that some of your content does not fall into a prosecutable category and thus can be left up without fear of reprisal.
And if it's on AOL's servers... For God's sake, move it.
