Well, it all started reading an article. Appearantly, a decent sized chinese newspaper has published an article in err. The newspaper published large translated portions of an article from The Onion, (about congress threatening to find a new capitol), not understanding that it was entirely a spoof/parody....
Then it struck me... since when did it become okay for a huge block of completely unrelated, unsolicited information to be thrust in front of ones view, with the understanding that visitors will put up with it and stay for the 5 seconds to view what's underneath? I remember attending web seminars back in the hayday that _always_ emphasized to any serious web developer that flashy graphics were nice, but delivering the content in the first 7 or 8 seconds of visiting the site was an unquestioned requirement. Now it seems like I can't go anywhere without flying suvs and viagra pills with happy smiles from cameo appearances...
sigh... ok... I,m so vented now that I can,t even keep my apostrophes up
