  • DefCon 10 WarDriving Contest Announcement

I have posted the announcement for the DefCon 10 WarDriving contest at www.securitytribe.com/wardrive.html

And without further delay, here ya go:

Announcing the First Annual DefCon WarDriving Contest
    The Rules
WarDriving teams will consist of up to four members.
Teams are responsible for providing their own equipment
All teams will begin and end their WarDrive at the same time (see Official DefCon program for contest start time and date)
The WarDrive will last for two hours
All local laws (to include traffic laws) must be obeyed.
At the conclusion of the WarDrive, each team will submit their data to the contest judges in wi-scan/wl-scan format
The location (latitude and longitude) of a qualifying AP must be submitted

    Scoring:
Each team will be scored by the following criteria:
1 point for each Access Point (AP) found
2 additional points for an AP that has a default SSID and WEP disabled
5 Additional points for an AP that no other team finds
Team with the most points wins.

    The Prize
There can be only one (team that is).
The winning team will be awarded the prize.
The prize will be announced in the coming weeks, but it is good.

Ok kismet users. I am gonna post this here, in the announcements section of this forums, in the netstumbler forum, the kismet forum. and on the contest announcement page.

Anyone who wants a copy of the judging script can email shipley@dis.org and he will send you the source.

That way you can check what is needed in order to be counted and also if you write your own script you know what you need.

          Lots of updates at www.securitytribe.com/wardrive.html

Thanks to c0nv3r9 and Medic for writing scripts to convert kismet to wi-scan. They can be snagged off the page above.

Also, Pete has put the scoring script online. Any revisions to that script will be placed there so everyone can have the most current script.
