Isn't them stealing your gun evidence enough that they tampered with it? I like what Deviant does with those super heavy duty cases and locks.
A third party security audit is the IT equivalent of a colonoscopy. It's long, intrusive, very uncomfortable, and when it's done, you'll have seen things you really didn't want to see, and you'll never forget that you've had one.

Perhaps new locks wouldn't be a bad idea. The ones I have even I can pick in under 10 seconds :(

But the case is covered.. Pelican makes some of the best in the world :)

Get one of those puck locks that Deviant Ollam uses. If customs can't even get through those locks to inspect the bag, then you should be ok. (http://deviating.net/firearms/packing/accounts/sas/)

hah... the pucks are pretty goddamn nice, indeed.

still, for everyone else... the Abloy PL321 is totally the way to go, especially if you have Pelican Cases.

i may be speaking without all the facts here, but i'd be more than willing to bet that the article's headline shouldn't read Four Guns Missing from Israeli PM Bodyguard's Bag but instead should be expressed as Gun Taken From Bag of Total Douche Who Didn't Pack Them Properly.

As anyone knows who's seen my talk... there's complying with the law and then there's actually securing your stuff. The SAS airlines story to which Xeon linked is a pretty damn good example of that. For about $25 (plus the cost of a $75 lock) i packed luggage that no one (not Feds, not criminals, not even the goddamn border guards) would be able to open. Case (and baggage) closed.

Again, i don't have all the facts... but i'm willing to bet that this bodyguard packed his pistols in some frequent flyer type bag (like a TravelPro rollerboard) and checked it in without anything beyond maybe a TSA lock or small, simple lock somewhere. I would not be at all surprised if we were to learn that they even flexed the rules a bit for him (allowing a soft-sided bag or less than ideal packing) because of his profession and status.

If i'm wrong about any of this, the guy has my apologies... but still, the mere fact that someone was able to open the bag is a big "Yer Doin It Wrong" flag for me.
"I'll admit I had an OiNK account and frequented it quite often… What made OiNK a great place was that it was like the world's greatest record store… iTunes kind of feels like Sam Goody to me. I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."

TSA is hiring, you'd know that if you ordered pizza.
