Semi-correct. What actually happened was that one of the cars broke down in Baker (IIRC, may have been Barstow), and the owner's manual for it was AWOL (hey, how many used cars actually *come* with the manual when you buy them)?
We called back to someone in L.A. who googled the info and read it out to us while we tracked down the problem. Had him back up and going within 30 minutes or so.
Oh, yeah, and I was dumb enough to lock my keys in my car at Ontario Mills. Don't do that, folks. You'll feel really stupid. Trust me.
also aaa is also a good idea.
And in the desert, paying the extra 20 bucks to upgrade to the 100-mile tow is a necessity.
AAA will tow you 7 miles OR to the origin of the tow truck. this is almost always a mechanic shop. not good if you want to get to vegas on time, but good none the less...
