  • Israeli Security Expert apparently does not work for full body scanning companies!

Since he says they don't work.

I almost used this to rez the bathroom cameras thread, since it referenced scanners and airport security, but I like seeing my name on new threads.

The Israeli expert argues for "trusted traveler" programs for low security risk individuals and behavioural profiling to concentrate assets on the areas needed. This guy apparently designed the security systems at Ben-Gurion airport (cite needed, only saw it on a blog).

He also comments briefly here on behavioural profiling (very briefly):

i have a pretty huge problem with these sorts of programs for two reasons:

    1. they create a class mentality, as if some travelers are "better than" others and deserving of special treatment because they have paid money / submitted to inspection / whatever

    2. the more these programs are adopted, the less likely we are to regain proper anonymous travel anytime soon.

from a simple, practical standpoint i don't like "trusted traveler" because i think it's just another system for a potential terrorist to figure out and work to their advantage. i like the egalitarian system of full anonymity and inspections handled on a simple case-by-case basis.
"I'll admit I had an OiNK account and frequented it quite often… What made OiNK a great place was that it was like the world's greatest record store… iTunes kind of feels like Sam Goody to me. I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."

Exactly. A "sleeper" with no record can easily enroll in a trusted traveler program and gain "privileged" access.

You pay cash. Robots fly the planes. Everyone gets injected with knock-out-serum before flight. That, or you all fly naked.

I tried that, but the woman seated beside me kept complaining.
