Fun Puzzles For The Down Time

I hate to post something that is, essentially, an advertisement, but I was just playing around with the web site for J.J. Abrams new movie (of whom LosT is something of a fan), and it is really cool. The first puzzle is already a lot of fun (accessed by interacting with an online PDP-11 "emulator" interface), and definitely for fans of the Mystery Challenge.

Check it out on http://www.scariestthingieversaw.com ... I knew there had to be a hidden message so I kept pressing. The way in which it is done is a great way of presenting "old tech" through a new medium.

Interesting. If anything, a nice marketing campaign. Looks like it's still in progress, at a dead end right now...

I assume they'll keep adding puzzles until the movie comes out in September. Right now, I know of only one; you should decoded a hidden message before hitting a dead end.

Also there is another web site you can deduce, but I haven't had a chance to explore it, yet.

*nod* We're at the same spot then. I agree, though, pretty slick setup. I dig the PDP-11 sim.

Since I have absolutely NO free time these days to look at stuff like this.. is that site just a puzzle/campaign, or is it an actual ARG? I had a lot of fun with this one while it was running. http://somethinginthesea.com/ They actually sent (usps) content to my house, and delivered stuff to people in the NY area via period-style couriers.

Yes, I can. Overall, I wasn't that impressed, and I'm not that smart.
                I suppose a good mind-juice-flowing exercise though.
