I am going to cap the contest at 20 teams / participants. I have most everything built and plenty of spares for others to play with, but assembling is taking more time than I thought. If necessary I can build more on site.

The one thing I don't have are people to help me actually run the contest. If you are interested please contact Nikita, who is helping me by finding volunteers to pull year one together.

You know, I hadn't even considerd that DT would need to ask for volunteers.. lame on my part.

Since there is now a cap, I'd be more than happy to drop and let someone take my slot if you still need help with volunteers that is. My tools are on the way to vegas as we speak so I can do either.

Nikita, DT: let me know through PM or e-mail if you would rather I participate or volunteer.

In that case, if the demand and/or trouble is that, high, I will either back out or join another team. Only a couple people (ok, just one) on the oCTF team had expressed interest. No sense in making you do additional work.

To Nikita: I would like to help, also. I should note, though, that this is my first DEF CON, and that I really am interested in this contest. But if you need unskilled labor, setting up tables, tripping over chairs, fetching drinks (risky, since both the drinks & I might not return), I gladly proffer my services

I am volunteering my time to help out. I should be flying in on Wednesday. I also will not be available during the DC101.

I might have missed it, is this a Black Badge event?

Post here if you want to participate in the TE contest.

If you are a team post the name of the team, if you will be competing as an individual then your name / handle.

I'll use this thread to judge interest and on how many boxes to build.

Also, if you are looking to build a team this might be the right place to find others interested.

Sorry - will you provide any idea of what it will look like, is it layers, prize inside, ect, just curious what to expect in the final product (a pic would be even better :) )

I'm still going to be participating, I was just worried about keeping someone else more hardcore than me out as I'm not going to be giving it all of my attention over the weekend. It would be unseemly and ungentlemanly of me.

And, admittedly, I signed up on a whim, and once I started looking at the cost of buying labels, etc to bringing all of the tools, I wanted to be on a bigger team with more people to share the cost :-D Speaking of, has anyone found a supplier with smaller minimum orders or is willing to split an order of labels? Or willing to sell part of theirs for a modest mark up?

Actually, looking at the List, WiK was the one on my oCTF team that was interested in doing both.

Not sure if that main list is being updated or not, but just in case it is being used as the master list of everyone who has signed up, I just wanted to restate that I would like to participate in this.

You might consider gift-wrapping the boxes. It just strikes me that one of the *first* experiences that many contestants had in working with tamper-evident materials might have been in keeping the parents from knowing that they were peeking at their Christmas presents early. ;)

PM'ing Nikita, btw -- this sounds like an awesome contest. I never thought I had an interest in this, but the more I think about it, the more fun it sounds. :)

If not it's cool, but when I approached dt to pick up the package I was just going to mark us down as a team at that time.
