DefCon 101 Mini-Games
As we've said before, at DefCon 101 during the second hour we'll be having some Mini-Games. This year we plan to have three of them. While we won't be giving away details of what you'll be doing during each Mini-Game, we will be giving information on the organizing group/contest/person. We'll be revealing a different one here every few days.
Mystery Challenge Mini-Game
About the Mystery Challenge
About the Mystery Challenge
Mystery Challenge is just that, a M Y S T E R Y. Got it? What freaking good is a Mystery that says up front, "Hello, Mr. Peacock, with the candlestick, in the broom closet, now go enjoy the rest of the mystery!"- Yeah, great for the re-res, not so good for the hacksters. (Ok, translation: you figure out what it is, that's the point. -2 for being slow.)
About the Game Runner(s)
LosTboY (LosT, KE7ULX, 1057) is the creator of the LosT@Defcon Mystery Challenge (Mystery Box), one of the most widely participated in black badge contests. He is also co-creator (with russ) of the Hardware Hacking Village. LosT is a Defcon Goon, and has run Defcon villages/contest for the past 5 years. He has been attending Defcon since Defcon 10.
LosT holds two black Defcon badges. The first for winning the TCP-IP Embedded Device competition, the second was awarded back to him by the winning Mystery Challenge team who felt they had been 0wned so badly by the contest that they were not worthy of the badge (first time in Defcon history a winning team re-awarded their badge to the contest creator!).
Professionally LosT is all over the map; from having worked at Parallax, Inc., as an applications engineer and hardware hacker, to creating the Robotics and Embedded Systems program at the University of Advancing Technology (UAT). He is also a member of the 303, one of the six founding members of HackDC,
In his private life LosT enjoys creating magic in the world (mystery challenge), contact juggling (DA is a god), mathematics,
ancient/dead/asian languages, hand bookbinding, analog and digital design, Halloween, robotics, radix research, number theory, real analysis, fountain pens, martial arts, Dr.Horrible & The Guild, or anything else that keeps his mind entertained yet challenged.
