  • Shirts order is underway

Just wanted to follow-up with folk and say that the shirt order is well underway and we should be fine there. Due to a few last-minute sign-ups i had to shoehorn a few more garments in there, but those will be at a $20 price tag. The rest of you are looking at $10 as was the case in years past.

Please consider looking at the sign-up thread to double-check that your size and quantity is all accurate, etc.

    See you in Vegas.
"I'll admit I had an OiNK account and frequented it quite often… What made OiNK a great place was that it was like the world's greatest record store… iTunes kind of feels like Sam Goody to me. I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. This applies to making babies, hacking, and youtube videos.

Just as a follow-up... holy fuck are we ever going with a different shirt guy next year. I like this local dude and all, but he really crossed the line in terms of what is acceptable and efficient this time.

He was constantly emailing and saying that he couldn't deal with the artwork files, even though i sent him super high-res PSDs, EPS files, and PDF'd versions as well. He was saying he couldn't figure out how to open them, work with them, etc etc etc. He was asking if i could save them in older Adobe versions because he only has Creative Suite 2 or something. His layout guy totally changed the shirt around (did a font replace which looked like crap and in the process broke the fully-justified layout) and he didn't notice. He kept on talking with a "relax, man" attitude when i was panicking because he apparently didn't realize that it does affect the customer when the have to respond to fifty inane questions via email... especially if the customer is at another conference the whole time. (I was dealing with all of this bullshit while trying to run my area at HOPE)

So, i am desperately wishing that things all arrive in time for me to inspect them, re-pack them, and prep them for travel to DEFCON. I wanted to have things done before HOPE so that i could bring the shirts to NYC, put them in Nuclear Steve's truck, and have him drive them back westward. With that not happening, i'll either have to ship them somewhere (if i could reach Merlin i'd ask if he would act as a receiving address again for me) or check them as an additional piece of luggage.

Either way, next time we'll have a better plan (and the new design will be worked out well in advance, since we have that co-opted and modified UN flag to work with)
