  • Any shooters from the northwest coming?

I am driving in from Seattle. Is anyone else from around here. Since my carry permit is only for Wa do I just put my guns in cases in the back?

I'm not from WA, but the short answer is: yes, put them in a case in the back.

Nevada does not appear to have reciprocity for concealed permits with Washington. (Google is your friend: Of course that map says (C) 2007, so you can certainly do more research, if you like.

Some states allow open carry. If this is something you would be interested in, check the laws of each state individually.

Some states will allow ready carry (carrying under the seat or in the glove box) in a vehicle without a concealed carry permit. You would have to check with each state's laws regarding this.

If not carrying your firearms somewhere accessible for a reason, you can certainly keep them in a (locked) case in a cargo area of the vehicle while travelling. Just don't leave them in there when parked at your final destination, that way they will not "walk off" on you.

In regards to transporting across state lines...
As long as it is unloaded and in a locked container, you will be legal.

      18 USC 926A
      Interstate transportation of firearms
Notwithstanding any other provision of any law or any rule or regulation of a State or any political subdivision thereof, any person who is not otherwise prohibited by this chapter from transporting, shipping, or receiving a firearm shall be entitled to transport a firearm for any lawful purpose from any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm to any other place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm if, during such transportation the firearm is unloaded, and neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly accessible from the passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle: Provided, That in the case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver’s compartment the firearm or ammunition shall be contained in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console.
