Are we trying to control the pet population? (copyright: Bob Barker). I assume we'll lose the folks that hung around for DEFCON after BH "just because". The BH briefings will be 3+ days after the last DEFCON talk. I still think we'll be 10K strong for DEFCON, but maybe less people wearing both badges. I think it's cool. I'll go to both still, but DC will come first -- as my guy, Dave Matthews would say, "That's OK, shit!"

Hmmm. Not disputing what you are saying (yet) but where are you getting the BH USA 2011 dates? I don't see them on the BH website (in fact the dates for BH DC which is typically in Feb. aren't accessible yet on the site) so I am curious where you're getting the info. i'm wondering how things will shape up with training days versus briefing days, etc.

I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."

I have to wonder how many presenters at BH will bail, the week after defcon can be some pretty harsh recovery time. If this updated schedule is that plan, that is.Comment

I don't have a valid URL; I recieved a presenter survey from BH a couple of weeks ago. One of the questions asked which BH event(s) I planned on attending in the coming year. It had all of them listed (DC and USA are the only ones I can realistically go to, so they are the only ones I paid attention to), but USA 2011 was July 30-Aug 4, 2011.
That means the first two-day batch of BH training is going on at the same time as DEFCON (SAT/SUN) followed by another two-day batch of BH training on MON/TUE and then the BH Briefings WED/THUR.
That means folks would have to "hang around" Vegas on MON/TUE if they weren't going to a BH training and were planning on attending the BH Briefings. Seems like a good two-day window for B-Sides (I heard good things about that event this year).
Quick edit: I believe DC 2011 is January 16–19, 2011 in Arlington, VA.Comment

Am I reading this right? DEFCON is going to be 4 days next year? Thursday to Sunday? August 4th is a Thursday if I'm reading my calendar right. And the 7th would be sunday ...... Don't want to book my trip too short if DEFCON is one day longer than usual. It's probably just gonna be cancelled anyways .......Comment

There's DEFCON 101 and other fun stuff (Swag booth, DEFCON Shoot, et. al.) on THUR. You should plan on being there THUR AM to at least get your badge!Comment
