I have not attended TheSummit before, I hope shaving goes on there, because I am sick of this fluff! =)

during defcon, mohawks will only be given out during the designated MohawkCon hours. we used to do shaves at parties, but since we've become "official", it's more work, and we need some time off. :) we'll be in the contest area, right in the middle of everything!

$1,000 is a nice round figure. perhaps a little bit of a long-shot but still attainable if there is any focused effort by the crowd.

and really... trust me, it's fun and it grows back pretty quickly. so you have an E-1 fuzzy head for a month or so after DEFCON. it's already August (and we're due for more kickin' heat probably) so it's the best time of the year for it.

It ain't grooming, it's shaving, and with clippers fer chrissake!

Some of us who don't have much hair up top might be willing to put the beard up for auction instead.

I haven't shaved the kopf in a month just to have something hawk-able, but the beard is MUCH more impressive...

I'm debating putting up my hair as a fundraiser- I've managed to NOT get a hawk every year....

Now I've got to figure out what my price would be....or if I'm really going to do this...

    Poll?

wait a tick i like this mohawk bounty idea. Have a sign up sheet for staff and speakers with bounties and amount still needed then have a "bounty hunter" come and find them and drag them to/hold them down for a mohawk!

sorry folks, we are not your personal grooming crew. we give mohawks, you give money. that's how it works.

Perhaps the mohawk folks could do beard trims after the unix beard contest was done and earn some extra cash for charity. I could arrive home with a bare chin much more safely than with a shaved head, and others may be in the same boat.

could you imagine if the big bounty wall chart allowed the donors to select which direction the line moved with their contribution of money? i could see someone like Renderman getting around 90% of the way there, then asking all his associates to chip in $5 in the opposite direction to stem the tide. Or DT being mere dollars away, then mystery Fed money clinks into the coffer resetting him to zero. (not like the government has that kinda cash to throw around, heh... but funny, none the less)

If they end up doing bounties for no mohawk, then yes. I will set mine at $100 for Hackers for Charity.

I'd pay GOOD money to see DT in a 'hawk, and I bet others would too. :-)

Great idea roamer! My mohawk bounty is $10,000 .. (better safe than sorry) Not that I have enough hair for a mohawk anyway.
