Sup fellas, Had a quick question. Yesterday I found 2 sunsparc station 20s in the trash. Plugged them in and woollllaahh. they worked. One of the servers had Solaris ver2.5 in the cd-rom drive. Has anybody used this station for anything? Anyone have any good ideas on what they could be a good use for? Right now I am looking to get a beta version of Linux from a friend, specifically for the sunsparcs. Going to hook them up to my network and practice on them. Any input would be great. laters

Actually, the Sparc 20 isn't a half-bad machine. In all honesty, though, I'd really recommend using it for Solaris - after all, pretty much any x86 box can run Linux, but since you've got the Solaris-specific hardware you may as well run what was intended to run on it. If nothing else, it'll get you familiar with the OS in its native environment (Solaris for x86 does not count as Solaris IMHO).

We're chucking out Sun systems, we have an Ultra 1, 2, 5 and 10. I have never used them except to run a backup. I asked the boss if I can have them to practice on them,he says Unix is dead, not worth learning, so many other things do so much more.
So, what are the top 10 things these macines are good for?
