Thanks to TheCotMan for getting our forum going again. I'll be taking point this year on the HHV and Bombnav has agreed to be second in command. We're working on some great things for this year, but as always, this is a community driven event. Please chime in with recommendations and ideas!

Will power be an issue this year?

Should people bring power strips?

What other items should people bring with them?

Are there any restrictions on soldiering such as locations, hoods, or air filters?

What worked last year, and is likely to return this year?

What did not work last year and is likely to be abandoned?

These are common questions, so why not get them out of the way. :-)

Can't wait!! Going to work on stepping up the quality of the loaner equipment this year. Making an investment that should carry us for may more years to come. Last year we had a great space just lost some of the fine focus as it was a new venue, no electronic badge so it was a transition year. This year I feel it.. will be another great one!!

Fantastic. Great to see the forum open and the hardware discussion rolling.

I'm overlanding to the con again this year; so I should have room for more goodies. As always, my services are offered to the HHV in whatever capacity you guys need.

As one of my engineers used to say: "My favorite programming language is solder".

One issue that seemed to be common last year, or common enough a couple of people asked me, was the need for access to a net connected machine for component datasheets, code snippets, etc. On the one hand that could be chalked up to poor planning on the part of the participant; however it could be argued that at a venue where a major FAQ answer is "leave your computer at home and meet people!" that it would be helpful to have a couple of machines for such research. Of course that opens up tons of issues on its own, just tossing a thought out there.

I have a laptop that could be used as a open comp and I will just format it when the con is over so that takes care of the computer issue. Not going to bring a printer as dont want to get into that mess.

Your "junk/stuff" is always welcome as it makes for a fun time!!!

There were some items that we seemed to have a constant shortage of, component wise:

0.1 inch PCB header strips
Battery holders
Voltage regulators

Of course a lot of this was due to the Teensy kit for the HHV challenge needing these and not including them.

Any ideas for a hardware hacking contest this year?
