I've been looking for this for 15+ years..It's from Mondo 2000 not sure what issues but circa 1994-1997...the guy in it is named Chris Hudak. Do you have super hi-res version?

I'm pretty sure Shipley would win the lookalike contest without even showing up.

At first glance it looks like a 90s era Radioshack exploded onto Glenn Danzig.

I'm not trying to be contrary or argumentative but i don't see what's cool about this dude... We all laughed at this when it came out. This is the media's fictional portrayal of people from a real culture. It's like showing a picture of urkle and saying, man, nerds sure were cool back in the day.

Reminds me of this book, from 1995, which I own, and which is (still) hilarious:

Same authors worked for Mondo and did the cyberpunk fake book. They had a sort of ridiculous aesthetic which I on one hand admire and on the other mocked. Like they loved tech but didn't have a clue how or why to actually use it.

I think part of my concern is that it's a type of revisionist history. People now who weren't part of that culture may look at this and think that this is what we all strove to be and look like. As if! :)

As fiction, it's just fine. As a guide for outsiders to learn about our culture and become more like us, DIE.

Yeah, reading the book it is very obviously over-the-top and self-deprecating. There is nothing serious about it.
