as I understand it, california is one of the only states where residents can become citizens of the state (ie instead of being a US citizen). if I've got this wrong, someone please correct me.

as for starting a new con, I'll start a new thread to see what comes of it.

I have been in CA since Lyndon Johsnson and know nothing about that citizenship thingee. But we do have weird laws.

Oh just because I have routers does not mean I can config them, help!

yeah, pretty much. I did find this:

            http://thestatecitizen.freeyellow.com/

but it's not much help to support my faulty memory.

                i dont use routers.
i attach a string between two paper cups and tape those to my computers.
it's not 10/100, but it works....

So I suppose wireless APs are out of the question KeLviN? Perhaps if we use fishing string it would look wireless.....

Hey for a wireless setup can we make pringles can bridges, and just bounce the signal all over the hotel halls that way?

Just an idea, but isn't there another hotel we could use that doesn't have hot conference tents? One that could house a lot of attendees and if we're lucky have broadband.

You mean one that hasn't already thrown us out, and actually looks forward to the idea of 5000 anarchist attendees with a reputation for massive destruction? Preferably one without a casino, due to underage attendees and general security concerns? New hotels that would actually welcome us are hard to find, not to mention the fact that the Alexis loves us, and we are still under contract with them.

Everyone realizes that we are running out of space, and this issue is being addressed as best as can be. The tents were much better ventilated this year, and every effort is being made to utilize all available space in the best way possible. I really didn't find it to be all that uncomfortable. Now, if this were a professional conference that a company spent $2000 to send me to, I'd certainly expect more, but it's not.

I think the accomodations are more than adequate for the event. Defcon was never meant to be more than a gathering of like minds, sharing of information and having a good time. Do we need to have crystal chandeliers and silver spoons for that?

If you want broadband, rig it from the LAN. There were plenty of people who had access thanks to rogue AP's. If you're hot, hang out in the DJ area for a bit, or stand a little closer to the fans. I thought hackers were supposed to be resourceful?
