Follow-up: Orange County Meets September 6th 2002

The meet was a blast. :)

bartender demonstrated his saki-bomb skills, we had a few, we had beer and saki everywhere by the end of the night.
Nulltone has sushi for the first time, and didn't gag. Also we found out a special ninja secret from nulltone (it's a secret).
Korben avoided the camera at all costs. He brought a legendary phone that let you do interesting things, man phones were big back in the day. We need to get him a gps to add support for macstumbler.
Freaky didn't charge his digital camera and only got a few shots before it died. Thanks Freaky for taking the bill at Maki Maki... we also got a few VIP cards from our favorite waiter Robert... he rocks, though he did gross a few ppl out when they asked him what the funniest thing he ever saw was, and while we were eating... and it involved fecal matter(Freaky was madly objecting!). btw, Freaky turns into Austin Powers after a few japanese beers, and a sip of saki... just ask Miss Turtle :o
We got to meet a few new people that came and then later went to see a movie while we at at Maki Maki.
... I woke up around 1pm today, and that is all I remember of the evening, if I left anything or anyone out please fill in. :)

Haha, yeah, the meet was great.
First time eating real sushi, not that fake shit I've had before.
I can't really think of anything else to add. Oh yeah, freaky thinks that I make weird noises when licking envalopes, but I think its just his imagination.
Also, I advice for the kiddies:
Avoid a waitress that sticks her nose in your drink.

The IVU meeting this time around had to have been the most energetic entertaining event so far. I left the camera on at work the day before thinking the thing turned itself off however when it came time to snap the shots for the day 1-3 were actually taken.. Nulltone and the envelope bit, well we will leave that story for another time but he did do a good job with the japanese food - actually seemed to like it :) We got the the meeting at 8 where Blackwave, Nulltone, Miss Turtle and Myself met up with korben, bartender, slimpickens, and bartenders buddy (forgot name already : ) Of the events we discussed the OC WarDrive even that happened the week before including plans for another one for the area in due time. We need to get korben a gps so he can add gps support to macstumbler which would be nice!!

We got the lowdown on nulltone, his name and the board which was a hot discussion. talk about the group, the setup and the aftermath went on. Went over the IVU biner, the logo, brought people up to speed on last months KK presentation by BW. Around 9:00-9:30 we headed to maki-maki for some food - we talked to our favorite waiter robert for quite some time as he gave us much attention including some extra shit which blackwave discussed. drinking, talking, eating, and laughing was what went down. Some people split to go see a movie which nulltone previously saw and said sucked - we continued to enjoy ourselves then called it a night. Everyone split and went their own way. I will upload pictures on monday :P

BTW I have no fucken clue about this Austin powers discussion that went down. :P

Well, maybe I was just biased. Freaky is talking about One Hour Photo. I went all the way to LA, a few weeks ago, when it was only playing in two theaters. And, I guess my expectations were just way too high. Also, right before release, they changed the music from Nine Inch Nails to these two Germans guys. (Yet another thing that which also pissed me off)
Maybe I'll see it in a year and like it.
But honestly, I think they could have done better with the idea of a guy at a One Hour Photo. Williams did a great job, and Cinematography was similar to Fight Club, Panic Room, etc. But when you've got a somewhat stupid story, and an even worse ending...
I'd just wait for video.

The next projected meet for the Irvine Spectrum is October 11th 2002 Standard time is 8pm - 11pm, 1am... etc. I will announce it a week ahead if all else fails.
