DEF CON info on the go: eBooks of Schedule/Speakers/Recent News/FAQ/etc.

A couple of years ago when I started planning for DEF CON I realized that I'd much prefer to have the program and other info in an eBook on my Kindle then leafing back and forth in the paper program of Talks trying to figure out which talk to go to next. The Kindle indexes everything so it can be searched, I can bookmark items of interest, do annotations, etc..

    SO . . .

In response to this perceived need, for the THIRD year in a row, I've started scraping the Schedule, Speakers, Recent News, FAQ, etc. from the DEF CON 20 site and have created eBooks in the two most popular file formats.

As the pages on the DEF CON web get updated I'll update the books so you have the latest info.

These eBooks are available here eBooks DEF CON 21

The eBooks that are there are a work in progress. I'll be making improvements between now and the start of con.
In particular I'm waiting for more info to be posted about the entertainment, and a map of the hotel.

Feel free to let me know what you think.

Please copy this thread to the "Defcon 21 and beyond" forum when it is created.
Please consider placing some reference to these files on the main con site.
Please consider mentioning in some of the various twitter feeds out there.

Can't help but wonder how/if these would work on my Android, which is what I use to read books.

Yes, you can read these on your Android.

Which format ( mobi or epub ) you download will depend on what format your reading App is compatible with.

Kindle and others will read mobi
Aldiko and others will read epub
        What App are you using?

Try opening DEFCON 21 ebooks in the browser on your Android, downloading to the Android the format you think is correct, and opening it in your App.
If that doesn't work you may have to download to you PC, plug your Android in, and copy the file to the Android.

New ebooks released! Entertainment & Floorplan

          New ebooks released!

Entertainment - ebooks in epub and mobi

Floorplan - ebooks in epub and mobi, as well as the source PDF recently released

Is there any interest in an ical file of the schedule? That way you could load it into your calendar. I can start working on one. . .

                <ACK!> <palm hits forehead> <thunk>

Those are the day/dates from last year. All the code editing, testing, link clicking, and I never noticed that!

I'll get that fixed tonight. Everything else is right except for the page headers.
You can re-download in a bit, or not. . .
                Thanks for pointing that out.

I have the schedule for speakers and entertainment in the iCal format. I am unable to post attachments. However, if you send me an e-mail, I will send you the files.

Cheers and see you at DEFCON!!
Smag, how many times do I have to tell you not to do something stupid??

I've created an ICAL file and put it at http://defcon.outel.org/ebooks/dc-21-schedule.ics
Save this file and then import it into your favorite Calendar. If you have an Android phone you can use Google Calendar and view the schedule and talk descriptions. I'm sure the iPhone has a way to do this also.

If you're in Las Vegas on Thursday don't forget about the DEF CON 101 Panel at Track 2 from 10am to 11:50
This is missing on the Schedule ebooks downloaded before now. It's been corrected and is now in the ebook and the ICAL.
If you like you can re-download the Schedule ebook

                      . . . snip . . .
If you've downloaded this, Please download it again and get the corrected version.

After a good nights sleep, and looking at this at a full level of consciousness, I realized how screwed up it was.
The "Until" times are now used, and Track 2 with it's multiple talks per hour is fixed.
