Walk out the back of the Rio, by the buffet, and across the parking lot to the Gold Coast directly across the street. It's a 5 minute walk. And quieter in the hallways at night. :D

It was rated a good value many years ago, shortly after the Rio opened, but cost-cutting and the need to try to make it a profitable department (or at least break-even) made it less of a value.
Old suggestions for trying to get the most from a buffet in Las Vegas:
Many buffet offer different prices for different "times" based on food served and meal associated. Breakfast is often cheapest, followed by Lunch with dinner being the most spendy.
If you are able to arrive and pay for your buffet experience 5-10 minutes before the "breakfast" pricing ends, you get the advantage of food from breakfast and after you wait, food for lunch at the breakfast price. This both gives you more variety to choose from and lunch food items for breakfast buffet prices.
The buffet isn't much of a cost saver, however.
          Check this website:
          http://www.riolasvegas.com/restauran...ld-buffet.html
Depending on meal, you should expect to spend from $25 to $40 each.

Last time I tried the buffet, the food was good quality; the fruits and veggies were "Las Vegas Fresh" (pretty much all the food in Las Vegas is trucked in from over 100 miles away, and refrigeration can only do so much when you are in a desert. This is no swipe at the Rio, all places I've eaten in Las Vegas suffer from one or more veggies suffering from Las Vegas heat... people don't go to Las Vegas for food grown by local farmers. ;-)

The best value at the Rio for those that can find menu items that work for you is the Burger King, assuming you don't have a car/transportation to get you to a grocery store.
