Re: Defcon 22 Short Story Contest now CLOSED

I voted on the first link but it looks like I can also vote on the second link. Should I be voting for a story on each? I looked through the announcements, and didn't really find something on this. I figured my vote on the first link would keep me from voting on the second one, but now I'm just confused.

I just voted for none of the above on the second post (not that there weren't plenty of deserving folks on both lists), so I suppose the point is academic, but in case I'm not the only one confused, I'm still asking.

Thanks for putting it all together, Eris. Nice work (and good luck to all the submitters).

Limits on the poll option forces me to make two polls. I looked and there didn't seem to be a way to limit a person to either/or poll. If someone knows a setting I am missing to make that happen, do let me know. I would rather it be one vote, one story, per person. I mean, I am sure it is being gamed somewhere anyhow, but one less option for it would be good. :P Thanks for noting it! Next year I may need to move to a voting website dedicated to it, or similar. I am receiving more and more stories. :D

Forum polls have limits because of the way the DB works for polls and polls are displayed in threads. Some options you have
        1) When making polls, enable feature that allows everyone to see how people chose to vote. This allows you to manually resolve cases where a username voted more than once. This may decrease voter turn-out, but may also help to ID abuse. It is a mixed-result feature, with consequences and advantages.
        2) Enable feature to allow people to vote for more than one story. Then it does not matter if you have multiple polls across multiple threads. Also, people that vote for all stories have done the equivalent to voting for zero stories.
        3) Combine the above

        HTH

Thanks again! I don't want to do that first one. The second seems doable. It doesn't really matter how many stories they vote for I guess, the end result will be the same, most votes wins.
