In this case, I do not think you are in violation of either, so long as this is about planning to meet with other people at DEF CON, and does not become a discussion about religion on the forums.
Feel free to organize a meeting tme and place at DEF CON on the forums, but please avoid discussion of religion, especially comparisons, what is "right" or a violation of doctrine, or "wrong" -- ON THE FORUMS. (What you discuss at DEF CON is not limited by the forum rules of no politics or religion.)
So that I am understood on this:
"You are free to believe what you want, and be a member of a religion you want, but the DEF CON forums is not a place to discuss religion."
In our mod discussions, we have said we are fine with people discussing politics or religion in the DEF CON Forum "Blogs" https://forum.defcon.org/blog.php and in PM to each other, but spamming is not allowed anywhere. If we are notified of abuse, and recipient gives us permission to inspect their PM to find evidence of spamming, we will deal with it, even in private.
Good luck with finding people that want to join you, and people should feel free to announce their intentions here in this thread, but no discussion of religion on the forums.
Thanks for understanding,

I don't see this as a religious discussion, just a call for those who feel they are called. Actually, it is one of the more awesomely written posts in that regard. My hat is off to you sir! Kudos for your tact and writing skills. If you code like you post, the NSA will have a use for you.

Not sure who is going to come across this post, but I figured it was worth posting here that after we were able to organize a minyan at DC23 we're looking to grow things this year and get more people involved for DC24.
I'm calling our little gathering Shabb@Con and I'm hoping we can build off of what we learned from doing this last year to make things better for this year. As a start, I'm actually finalizing right now both a sefer torah and someone who will layn. If anyone wants to be involved or is willing to help out with logistics, etc please shoot me a PM.
Thanks,
