Will DC23 have the "badges"?

Saw the electronic badges from DC20 and 22 and they looked awesome, with some amazing challenges involved etc.

I've read that the electronic badges are in DC in alternate years. Then the years between have some more basic paper based badges.

That right? So would that mean DC23 wouldn't have the cool electronic badges?

The badge for next year will be haptic-oriented rather than electronic-oriented.

Often, any information about badges is kept private. If Lost[boy] aka 1o57 aka 1057 is to provide work on badges for DEF CON 23, information about what kind of badge it would be, would likely remain a mystery -- unless he decides to remove mystery, which would be out of character, or be purposefully misleading, which is something he has done many times with his "Lost @ Con Mystery Box" and Mystery challenges which preceded the badge-puzzles.

Good luck in getting a straight, reliable answers or hints about future badges.

Dook- the badges for 19 and 21 weren't basic paper based badges. DC19 was a titanium badge with unique shapes and numbers, and DC21 were circuit boards in the form of playing cards. Both badges had built in crypto challenges. 1o57 does not disappoint.
