The people that run the event. It has changed hands several times over the years.

Additionally, the person that takes on the role is often a volunteer and DEF CON attendee that wants to do it. Ages and ages ago, *different* Vinyl Vana than recent were hired Las Vegas locals, but I must stress that was a long time ago, and they are not the same people as those that assumed the same name today. In my opinion, the *best* Vinyl Vanna (or equivalent) have been DEF CON attendees. Often, the audience has been most active with antics provided by characters like Vinyl Vanna on stage with players. It does not matter if they are men or women in revealing clothing -- the usual *shared* entertainment value is in what they do on stage with the players, and crowd.
