The colours hurt my eyes, the edges of the graphics don't line up, the rest of the site doesn't match (what's with pushing a redesigned main page without having applied the theme to the rest of the site?!), and the cutesy little graphics on the links are something straight out of a skript kiddey site. Not to mention, why be so worried about redesigning the site when simple things like links to the archives have been broken for so long? Shouldn't that be the first priority? In one word... BLEH. But that's just MNSHO.
I agree with OP on the "layout" really being just a face change, perhaps there have been minor touch-ups that have rippled through the site, but they aren't very noticeable...
it would be best to have a seamless interface througout the entire site, that of which is within the webmaster's control.
(more.graphics != better):
Hell, the whole site could be text only and it would look fine.
One more thing, dark colors are good, bright colors are bad.
- The animated O might be pulled off if the time between each change is lengthened to somewhere between three and five seconds of time.
- The animated bar at the bottom of the layout does not work out. It seems like its sole purpose is to look cool. It needs to go.
- The logo breaks out of the design (read: does not line up) a bit when viewed with the latest versions of Mozilla and Opera. It works fine in Internet Explorer 6 and Phoenix 0.4. No other gripes as far as the layout breaking.
- The choice of color for the background of the table (a brightish light green) is a bit too saturated with green. It makes it hard for my eyes to focus on the text.
- I totally agree with Octalpussy on the point of having applied the theme to the front page only, and not the rest of the site. I think that is kind of like jumping the gun a bit.
- I can't say I really liked the last version of the layout a whole lot, but I can't really remember all the reasons why. Anyway, this isn't about the last layout, so I won't go any further with that.
It's late and my brain is starting to shutdown, so I'm not able to think about what else to pick on, so I'm going to stop now and get some rest.
I dont mind the greenness to the new layout which is on the index page, however the text doesnt go right with it and ya the animated thing at the bottom is a little distracting. The animated logo is pretty cool, but the top of the circle looks cut off a little on my monitor.
the O does need to slow down and the green streaking line at the bottom could go, but other than that i like it. i don't mind the bright theme and colours. we all know we're dark inside, no need to over-do it everywhere. plus we might attract calm, home-going, happy types to con.....like those ugly dark deep sea fish that dangle bright green flashing lights infront of their mouths....

Love the midget theme! Of course don't forget the Spot the Midget Fed. I think you get a cut-off t-shirt for that one.
I liked the old site, either because it was first or because it was not as "politically correct" as this site. I do like that you can find links easier on this one though.
One thing about the last layout: That image of the girl was ripped from polykarbon.com. I heard from someone I know (regretfully so) that jinx admitted to it in person.... but still. It would have been nice to credit the person from polykarbon. *shrug*
Wow.. my first time back on the net and this?.. :)
The animations are cool, but should be limited to a couple spins around.. then make the page static.
I've never really been a fan of the whole cookie cutter "draw your page" concept that a lot of web designers tend to crutch on, but the new layout is something different for the eyes...
if it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud; and I'm gonna go there free.
