New Defcon Layout

I've never really been a fan of the whole cookie cutter "draw your page" concept that a lot of web designers tend to crutch on, but the new layout is something different for the eyes...

Have you guys seen the page in Phoenix .4? It's all disconnected...there are gaps between the header, defcon logo, and main content. Terrible.

It's otherwise not too bad.

The site layout to me seems just a little bright, everything seems alittle clunky, and the redesign really threw me off the common blue black theme which to me was "groovy". but it is the data not the layout that brings me to it. I could live with an all text site.

I dug the old layout. Blue, white and black with that anime chick at the bottom. It seemed more futuristicly techno-ish.

I agree entirely, that was a very nice layout and it was easy on the eyes.

i think we all just fear change....

if it had been like this for really long and then it changet to the blue/black/anime, we'd bitch just as much....

i liked the old one more then the new one. I like dark backrounds with white lettering. Black is the best color

I never visit the front page anymore. I hit it the other day by accident thought I opened the wrong site!

I actually like the green colors, and the animation at the bottom doesn't really bother me, didn't even notice it until I read this thread. The DEFCON logo really does need to slow down a bit though. Or maybe a toggle? I always thought the "on/off" switch on the plycon site was pretty cool:

Granted, it's still bad that the entire site doesn't have a consistent theme, and that front page is pretty bad (although a few of the previously mentioned atrocities have been removed), but I think perhaps the DC11 page is a little better maybe? Still not ideal, but improving....

Its ok, I sorta like darker colors, but the blue is ok. I dunno, It seems ackward to use the dc11 interface. My main problem it is way to happy........:D

Yeah, the DC11 page is not nearly as offensive as the main page.

It's not as threatening. Not a visual assault. Softer and more relaxed. I had toyed with doing t-shirts in brighter colors, but the cold colors seem to look nicer. The site should remain the same way.

I'm not a fan of the new site. I won't rehash everyone else's comments here, but I will add that the in-jokes (if that is indeed what they are) are really out of place.
