I'm all for toy guns... hell, give them real ones, and let them weed out the strongest for all I care. I come from a generation that had wonderful toys that could maim and/or kill (like lawn darts!!). Every weekend, my friends and I dressed up in camo, grabbed our guns, and played out elaborate battle simulations in the woods, complete with bunkers, booby traps, etc.
And yet, I'm disturbed by this toy. It's not glorifiying the act of battle, but rather the devastation itself. I think it is most upsetting to me because it shows that this is not a war being fought between armies, but rather that we're going in and ravishing areas where normal, everyday people are living.... and then it goes a step further, dressing it up, glorifying it, allowing a child to crown this civilian home with his "Peacekeeper" and our flag. It reeks of political progpoganda and spin-doctoring. Make it look OK to the kids, and mom and dad will accept it, too.
