This is the way things usually work...

    1. You state your intent (why you want to contact)
    2. You state your contact information.
    3. You wait to be contacted.

No one is going to tell you anything about anyone just because you want the information.

Didn't mean to be anti-social or rude. Obviously posting personal info (real name, phone number, address, etc) on a public forum (either hers or mine) wouldn't be proper. On the other hand, I didn't think an email address, website, model agency (I'm assuming she was compensated for her time), or other form of public contact would be out of line. As far as intent, not sure it's relevant to get public info. But if you're curious, lets say its to form a fan club.

If it's public info why don't you have it already or know how to find it? If she had wanted that info made available to "the public" she probably would have given it out herself.

Just because a piece of info isn't easily accessible (especially without a name, agency or other starting point) doesn't mean it's not public info.

            > If she had wanted that info made available to
            >"the public" she probably would have given it
            >out herself.

Perhaps she did and I didn't hear it, hence the question. And it's not like her role at the conference was to advertise her website, business, agency, or whatever so I don't see the fact that she didn't promote herself publically as a sign that she wouldn't appreciate a loyal fan/customer base. If I'd asked "anyone know how to contact the DJ of the ball?" or "who was the caterer of the event?", I doubt people would be as up in arms as the past few replies would seem like people are getting.

            Later, KeLviN satired:
            >i've been waiting all my life for you. i paraded
            >nekid infront of 1000 sex craved males, but
            >all i could think about was "wham".

Or, perhaps she is an entrepreneur (model, stripper, website hostess, what have you) who would appreciate a new customer. I don't see the problem here. If she just happens to be a hot DefCon attendee who happened to volunteer for the role and truly would prefer to remain private, then so be it. Otherwise, I don't see the harm in asking for contact info.

Yeesh, talk about poor taste. Falsely referring people to the Chief Admin Officer of UNLV sounds like a swell idea.

Guess again...folks around here take their privacy seriously...personal info isn't given out. Anyway...the DJs are usually listed in the Program...and the DJ page off of the DC site can give you their info because they WANT you to have it. If you asked for info that was that easy to find your flaming would have probably been worse.

Suffice it to say...waiting 4 months to decide to start a "fan club" sounds like stalkerville to me.

Ok, perhaps I haven't been clear. I'm not looking for home phone number, address, longitude and latitude. I'm thinking along the lines of perhaps email addr, homepage, or maybe work number (if her modeling engagement was through an agency).

                >Anyway...the DJs are usually listed in the >Program...and the DJ page off of the DC site

Right, and had the answer's I got back from the event coordinators had been "she doesn't want to be contacted", I would have said "oh well" and moved on. Instead, I got:
                - why do I want the info?
                - post my contact info and wait
                - she probably doesn't want be contacted
                - try calling the CAO of UNLV
                - I'm a stalker

                >Suffice it to say...waiting 4 months to decide

                >me.

Well, immediatly after DefCon the forums were offline weren't they? And had I asked "Where does she live?" then I think stalkerville might have been an issue. Sure a fan club is a bit of a stretch, but the point is, if she's a professional entertainer, I'd think that she might be interested in having contact info posted. Has anyone asked her? Like I said, if she doesn't want the info posted, no big deal. If it's not been posted because no one has asked for it, consider the question asked.

I'd at least recommend updating the defcon.org/html/who-is-defcon.html web page where the previous Vanna's (old) contact info is posted.

oh damn... I forgot to mention that the way things usually don't work are by:

                      1. harassing the board members
                      2. bitching
                      3. being an ass
