  • Meeting Questions

I know there used to be a meeting in Sacto. but it is no longer listed in 2600. I've read elsewhere on this forum that it is still being run even though there is no notice in 2600 or on the 2600 site.

Is it really still being run?

Does anyone know if it would REALLY be worth my time to drive for three hours to go to a meeting?

    Thanks
    apprentice

Did you get out of it what you expect?

Sometimes its a good place to go. Other times (Like the usual philly meetings as of late) they just suck.

It's all to do with the people there. When Blackwave and I hang out we don't rag on each other for any lack of knowledge, we just share information. Keep the attitude at home or save it for the lamers.

The meeting wasnt what I wanted, but I got some good ideas for what my meetings will be like if I get them going. I have heard of the SLC meetings, those look productive such as having small technical talks. I did sport my "wardriving is not a crime" shirt at the meeting.......;)

If it is like the ones in this area, they are listed but I don't think they meet..

yeah it would be nice for non-active groups to be delisted.

SLC had a great meeting this month. The talks lasted about two hours and we had some good shiznat. All it takes is one person with enough patience to make it work. Also, being able to stand up in front of a crowd and project your voice doesn't hurt.

The LA 2600 meetings started doing talks in december, I talked to skroo and he says that he can already see a difference in participation and has talks lined up till march.

Take ownership, make it work, because it can.

If you don't like your meetings, find like-minded people and change the way the meetings are done.

2600 SLC has prospered because Grifter has taken a leadership position and made drastic changes to the way the meetings were going before.

I'm not saying that one or two people need to be some kind of "presidency" for the meetings, but if a person, or group of persons can bring order to the chaos and get a better meeting our of it, then everyone should be better off.

Keep in mind that we still encourage free discussion before and after the talks and business portion of the meeting, so those who feel that any order would restrict the feeling of the meeting have less to worry about.

                          UT2600 W00T!

I'll jump on the bandwagon as another member of the Salt Lake City, UT meetings.

Grifter has really done a lot of good things for the meetings here. It has taken a lot of patience and work I am sure, but we have great talks and good friendships because of it.

Its all about someone stepping forward and making it happen.

Believe it not, trying to revive something that has someone with ego problems sucks more than having it delisted so some fresh blood can give it a go.
