I know there have been many references to DMCA news in the past, but I figured it would be nice to start gathering the high profile stuff into a thread. Please discuss the news by creating a seperate thread for the particular item, this is intended as just an archival/resource type area for the DMCA news.

More signs of greed.. Lexmark will use the DMCA to try and kill off competing companies that sell toner. If won, the case could set future implications on ink/toner competition, allowing printer producers to continue their monopoly of the sales because they have a small amount of electronics in them.if it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud; and I'm gonna go there free. -

Rumor that Microsoft's Reader e-book software has been cracked have been confirmed, as a binary and the sources have been made available from outside the US. From the information in the article, it is possible to google-fu you way to the distribution site. I think this is where I should give warning to US residents that it is illegal to download either per DMCA... so use your own discretion should you find the site (hence no direct linkage).if it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud; and I'm gonna go there free.Comment
